Mom's Little Lady..........(that's me!!)
Mom and I had a great day together!!! We met at the mall and I arrived a little before she did, so I was already carrying a couple of bags when I saw her!! I was way ahead in the spending department!! I picked up a new pair of mule-y looking wedge shoes from Payless, two pairs of shorts and a cute little white empire waisted shirt....perfect for work!
Then we took a walk down the street to our TRUE destination....the local stamping store!!! I just love walking in there because the one whole wall is COVERED in stamps....from end to end! It would bring a tear to your eye!! *giggle* They have SO many stamps there that I can't find anywhere else....like Inky Antics, Magenta, A Muse and they are one of the few stores I know that carry the Bellas!! Mom picked out the stuff she wanted....some Cuttlebug folders, some Stickles and some stamps. I couldn't stop!! She had to sit down and wait for me!! I was in a trance....mesmerized by the rubbah!!! Finally, she got me out of there by dangling lunch in front of me....I WAS very hungry!! So I scooped up *several stamps*.........(ahem, no comments Mom!)....some Stickles and some ink.
Then we went to Glitters for lunch!! Yes, she picked the restaurant I LOVE....aren't Mom's the best?! We had the same thing too! We had linguine alfredo with garlic bread! Mmmmmmmmmm yum! It was dee-lish-us!! After we gabbed and ate....we went BACK TO THE STAMP STORE!!! Baaaaahahhaaaaaaaaaaa!! Can you believe that?? The ladies in the store were laughing at us!! AND we each bought a couple more stamps!! I can't wait to play with them and show you what we got!!
I also gave her the birthday card and her presents!! She loved them all! So now I can show you the card!! I made it using my new Papertrey stamp sets. If you don't know Papertrey....you need to! It is a very new company that releases a new clear acrylic stamp set each month and I have drooled over them since I first found them! They have a very crisp, clean design to them and you can make very elegant cards out of just a few stamps mixed and matched from any of their sets and without a lot of embellishments. Check out their gallery for lots of gorgeous designs.
I finally broke down (didn't take much....snicker) and ordered my first sets when the Little Lady set was released on May 15th. I am always hesitant about ordering from US sites because you never know how long the processing is going to take or how much the shipping is going to be. But I took a chance and I am happy to say that I was thrilled!! I ordered the Little Lady set and the Papertray set and I received the order in less than two weeks from the time I ordered it AND it only cost me $5.50 in shipping. Not only was I happy about the time frame and the shipping....they were packaged so beautifully, all wrapped in tissue paper and with a little thank you note even! They really know how to treat their customers!!
So last night I finally pulled them out to play with them and low and behold, each set came with an instruction sheet, an empty cd case to store them in and a sticker to go on the spine with the name of the stamp set!!! So now they are all ready to go up on my shelf, all organized and cute in their own little cozy homes!! Heehee! I was over the moon and I will definitely be ordering from them again!! How many days until June 15th?????
Anyhoo.....back to the card!! I stamped the body of the ladybug in Rose Red, because I knew I wanted to use some designer paper from the Palette of Prints pad of paper from Stampin' Up in that colour. Then I stamped the black portion of the ladybug (which is all on one stamp, by the way) in Basic Black. I added the trail stamp behind her in Basic Black too. Then I pulled out the Papertray word stamps....and let me just say, that I LOVE the font on this set....and put together Happy Birthday. That's the great thing about this set....you can mix and match all the words to make your title or phrase, and get them all arranged and lined up straight on your acrylic block. You'll get them straight every time!! And I added the little flower on the end! Then I added some white grosgrain ribbon!! (Do ya like the layout?? I made it up myself and I'll probably use it again.) And that's Mom's Little Lady card!!
Thanks for a great day, Mom!! I miss you already!!

Do I have to move to St. Thomas and go shopping with you? Great card, BTW!
I miss my Mom. She's fun to shop with too - but she runs me ragged :)
Cute Card, and your new pic of yourself is lovely!
Loved reading about your day...several trips to the stamp store is normal, isn't it?
Lovely card! It sounds like you and your mom had a great day! I like your new picture! You'll have to try PaperTrey's new white cardstock. It is wonderful! It puts SU's Whisper White to shame.
I love this card. Sounds like you and mom had a great day. When I go back home to MN to visit, my friend Shelly and I are like you and your mom. We go to the stamp store buy a bunch of stuff, either go home or out to dinner, then back to the stamp store for more things we "need" to have.
cute card...sounds like you guys had a blast shopping and spending time together. What a great way to spend the day.
Kimmie,
This will be a memory treasured by both of you - cute card and lovely post about your day.
Thanks for sharing.
