Goin' for a Sleigh Ride....

Sorry I didn't post yesterday! Do you ever feel like there is just not enough time in the day??? I do....a lot lately! I am done all but 5 of my Christmas card orders, so that is a relief. But this Sunday I am putting on Christmas for my husband's side of the family. There will be 11 people here and they are all big cookers and I'm really not. I mean I cook.....when I have to....but I hate it. It's just not one of my favourite things. So it's a big undertaking for me. I'm sure that you all probably put on big meals for a lot of people all the time, so please share any tips that would make this stressful weekend, a little easier for me. I'd appreciate any help you can give me.....other than 'Order in!' because I've already thought of that one!!!

Here is a cute little High Hopes card for ya!! I made it using last week's sketch challenge on SCS. I like how the whole main panel covers the whole width of the card. I stamped Toboggan Joyride on Fabriano watercolour paper in Archival Versafine Black Onyx ink. Don't you just love this little group of friends?? That beaver is just having the time of his life!! I drew in the hill and started colouring with my SU markers. I knew that I wanted to use this cute polka dotted ribbon that I got in the $ bin at Michael's, so I used those colours along with all the browns for their fur. Then I watercoloured the sky around them using my Aquapainter and Bashful Blue ink. I layered it on BB and Certainly Celery cardstock and then used my mat pack and white Signo gel pen to do the faux stitching. I also added four Real Red eyelets using my Crop-a-dile. Now the card base is actually Whisper White and I covered the whole front piece with some Sandylion snowflake dp. I paper pierced across the bottom over to the sentiment and added the ribbon with a swirly paperclip.

Tonight I am picking up my honey pie at the airport when he flies in from Calgary. He's only been gone a week this time, but this is the first time that I've had the night off so I can be the one to pick him up. I'm also getting my haircut today (haven't done that since last Janaury....how sad is that?) so I'll be a new woman when he sees me!! Heehee! I should chop it all off and give him a coronary!! Baahahahaha!

So have a great weekend......I know I will *insert GIANT eyeroll here*, and seriously, I'd really appreciate any tips on how to make this weekend run a little smoother for me.

I love to cook but still find large groups a little stressful.
Do easy things that you are comfortable making with maybe one new dish that you want to try.
Set your table the day before.
Dust but don't go nuts cleaning.
Make many lists.
Hope it all goes well.

Hi Kimmie....Wheee looks like so much fun and great how you put the image across the page....wonderful.
Now Tag you're it. Please go to my blog and see my Elf Name LOL.

Link on and get an Elf name for yourself too. If you dare...look at mine...oh my....I even cut sugar out of my coffee and tea because I could see the amount of sugar I was consuming weekly. I switched to sweetner.

Tag you're IT!! What's your Elf name?

What a cute card!

Easiest way to get through holiday meals. KEEP IT SIMPLE and use a crock pot as often as you can! I love to cook and entertain, but I know the things I have to stay away from. Make what you cook well and you're comfortable with. Serve lots of appetizers like fresh fruit, cheese and crackers. Dips and chips. That way if you make a small menu for the dinner, they are full anyway.

Have fun and Merry Christmas early.

I love to cook - BUT sometimes when a crowd lands, I cook one (or two) of those HUGE frozen Lasagnas, buy a big bag of pre-made salad and get yummy crusty bread from the Bakery.

If pride is an issue, maybe you can even take the frozen lasagna out of the aluminum pan, pop it in a big pan of your own and take all the credit. Good Luck!! Robin

What a Fabulous Fun card this is!!
I try to keep my meals for a crowd fairly simple by making lists and making things ahead (like a cold sweet salad and desert which usually can be made the day before). I cut up my pickles and cheese and make my green salads(saving dressing for later) in the morning of the meal.
I do this because I am terrible at getting everything done at once for a meal and I get so nervous.
I love all the tips you've gotten so far...I'm really glad you ask this question...also.....If you drink a little ....don't forget the wine...a major stress buster...and if you don't drink....lol...just give it to everyone else...Haa ha..

I am with you - I hate to cook. I am immensely thankful that my oldest sister loves to have everyone at her house. But we do a sort of organized potluck, so the hostess doesn't have to do all the work.

My advice is to drink heavily...that is how I get through the holidays with my family! (haa haaa haaaa)

Really, just try to get as much done the day ahead of time as possible...chopping veggies and stuff like that.

I just think your sleigh ride card is adorable...those images ae sooooo cute!

So glad your hubby is coming home...mine is on the way to the airport today to go to Mexico again...and then to Atlanta...and I am gong to be heading to Green Bay for a funeral so we won't see each other for two weeks...bummer!

I wanna see pics of the new do too!
