OH the Weather Outside is Frightful!!!!

It feels and looks like a stinkin' blizzard out there!! I had heard we were going to be getting some serious winter weather over the next couple of days, but WOW!! This is nasty! I mean, we are a hardy bunch, us Ontarians. I often just wear a vest over my sweater when I go out and it's -7, -10, -13 degrees, but I'll be wearing my full winter gear to go to work today!!! Jinkies!!! It's snowing and the wind is howling and you can barely see a thing!!

I just talked to my husband on the phone. He works nights driving truck to Detroit and back and he says it is rather 'ugly' to use his description. I hope it's better by 1pm when I gotta head in. Yuck.

Anyway, on to the card!! I thought we needed something bright and perky to ward off the awful weather. So I'm posting a card that I made for yesterday's Ways to Use It Challenge on SCS. The challenge was to incorporate staples onto your creation and I must admit that I don't often use them. And while making this card, I realized that they don't have to be used for their function of holding something on, like a piece of ribbon. They can just be an embellishment on their own! So I just used them as a little additional design on this card!

I used Tilda with a Bouquet (I don't think that's the literal translation, but that's what I call her...heehee) and I stamped her in Archival Brilliance ink in Graphite Black, which is my new favourite ink for using with Copics as it doesn't bleed!!! Yay!! I stamped her on some of my new favourite paper, Wausau Bright White and coloured her in. I played with my new Basic Grey Two Scoops dp and used the colours in that dotted paper. I cut her out using a scalloped square Nestabilities die and matted her on a piece of Mint Melody retired cardstock....remember that colour?? Never thought I'd use that stuff again, but it does go with the Two Scoops paper! I added a piece of Blue Bayou which I stamped with the bg stamp that matches Simply Said, sorry I can't remember what it's called. Then I sponged the edges of the BB and added two heart brads. I layered the strip of Two Scoops and added some stitched grosgrain ribbon and the staples in the corner. Then I made the sentiment panel using Little Lady by Papertrey and stamping each little section of words one at a time in the punched circle and then pop dotted the whole thing. I, of course, then added some Stardust Stickles on Tilda's wing and in the centers of each of the flowers!!

Well, hope you have a warm and toasty Friday and I hope you're getting warmed up for my celebration which starts on Sunday!!! See you there!!!
