Watercoloured Tilda!!

Okay, so you all know that when it comes to watercolouring, I'm no Sophia and I'm no Claudia, that's for sure!!! I mean, these girls are pros and I simply drool when I check out their blogs every day!

I enjoy colouring with my Copics and my SU markers but watercolouring is not something that I've picked up right away and I just haven't really had time to sit down and practice. So this weekend, when I had a little extra time, I thought I would give it a whirl again. Now, it's definitely not a masterpiece, but I actually think it turned out pretty well! I hope you like it too!

I stamped Tilda and her little Bird on SU watercolour paper in Archival Versafine Black Onyx ink. Then I used a watercolour brush along with SU reinkers and water to colour her in. The dp is Sweet Pea by Fancy Pants and I took the colours from the paper. I used Close to Cocoa in her hair, Pretty in pink for her wings and cheeks, Blush Blossom for her skin, Bashful Blue for her sweater, Certainly Celery for her skirt, grass and bird, Creamy Caramel for her boots and So Saffron for her socks and blending around her. I drew in the grass with a black pen too. It's not perfect, but I think I'm getting there.

SU watercolour paper is fantastic! It's nice and thick and takes the water and ink very well. The only thing I don't like about it is that it's not white. It's creamy and I would really like to find a bright white watercolour paper of the same quality. Anyone have any tips??? Anyone know of such a paper??

I ran the bottom piece of dp through my Cuttlebug using the D'vine Swirls embossing folder and added some pink taffeta ribbon. I attached the Prima flowers with a large fancy snap by Making Memories and put three pink SU brads in the corner. The sentiment is from Rain or Shine by My Favorite Things and I finished her off by adding Stardust Stickles to her wings and pop dotted the whole focal piece. Not bad, I think.

Oh and I suppose you'd like to know who won the Bunny Tilda???? Well there were 10 lovely entries for the sketch challenge and the random winner is..............LEONIE!!! Yaaaaaaaaaay!!! Please email me with your mailing address and I will get that in the mail to you!

Your card is stunning Kimmie and I think you did an excellent job on the colouring, so beautiful. I know what you mean about the watercolour paper, it looks great if you have a coloured background but not too good if it white, I haven't been able to find any in in the UK as of yet though!

I feel the same way about the watercolor paper, it is too dull. I want it to be a brighter white then it is. I only use it for images I am going to cut out, or on things that I am painting a scene on and it covers the whole paper!! I love your watercoloring, it looks fabulous!!

What a Gorgeous card!!..and your watercoloring is Amazing!!..You must be a natural!!
The lightest I have found for water color paper is Canson or Bienfang(I think I bought the Beinfang at Walmart)..but this still is not real white and is 90 lb. An art store might have a whiter one.

It is gorgeous as usual!!!! Have you tried going to an Art store and checking out their watercolour paper? We have some at school that we buy direct from an Art Supply company (not sure the name) and it is whiter than SU but not BRIGHT white. It is good quality too!! Only downfall is it comes in sheets that are 3 x 2 feet!!!

This is fab Kimmie! I love my copics too but do watercolour sometimes and am buying the SU markers - are these the same as the re-inkers?
