Poor Tilda!!

Against my better judgement, I'm going to share this card with you today. It's not exactly the best one I've ever made (in fact, it makes me throw up in my mouth a little bit), but I wanted you to see it anyway. I don't only want to share the prettiest, most creative and original designs that I make. I also want to show you my mistakes and mess ups.

Now I think my downfall with this one is the colours. I chose a dp that just didn't fit with this image. This is one of my earlier creations with the Copic markers and was playing around with the different colours and I think it would have been nicer with a lighter yellow (which I didn't have at the time) and no red! It looks kind of like Ronald McDonald played dress up with poor little Tilda!

I try to find things that I AM happy with though and on this one, I'm really thrilled with the way the sky turned out! I drew the outline of a puffy cloud on a spare piece of cardstock and cut it out. Then I laid it down on the focal image and sponged around it using Blue Jean distress ink by Ranger. I sponged and then moved it, sponged, moved it and did this all over until the sky was covered from the top down to the hand drawn grass. Then I added some Crystal Effects on each raindrop and on the splash of water on her hand. The sentiment is from a My Favorite Things set.

Like I said, NOT my favourite, but parts of it I will use on another card. Maybe I'll try to recreate this one using some different dp. Now where did I put that cloud template??? Hmmmm......

Well, it's pretty rainy and gross here in Ontario today. It's getting to be more like spring every day....fingers crossed. I have to work 1-8:30pm today, so hopefully I can get a few cards made this morning!!! Have a great day!!!

I think it's beautiful!! You did so much work on the image and clouds, that I didn't even notice the dp until you said something about it!! I STILL think it's gorgeous! Man, if those are your screw ups, then I sure don't want you to see mine!
I am sure that anyone would be really happy to receive this card, I know I would!!

I agree with Trina.. if that is your mess up... hehe! I do love what you did with the crystal effects.. the cloud and rain drops and the splashing drop on her hand look awesome.

I like it! the pp flowers may not "fit" the theme of the rain but they do appear after the rain, and I happen to like McDonalds.. so the colors are good with me and I too LOVE the sky! I really need to practice this as I mess it up bad, so bad I would NEVER post it. Fun card and it thrills me that you share cards that you aren't happy with even if you are wrong - LOL!

Kimmie: this card is gorgeous. As soon as I saw it I stopped to take in all of the creativity. You should give yourself a lot of credit for working hard on this one and you should look at it in a different light. Yes, I agree if this is a mess up Wow!!! ~~~~
Tilda looks mighty fine to me and you captured such an essence of a rainy day.
love the card Kim...

I think you are being too hard on the card- we are all guilty of that at times! By the way, where do you get your copics from? I am in London and am at a loss on where to find them except online

OMGoodness Kimmie - this card is fabulous! I immediately loved it and think the flowers and the colors are perfect. Rain always makes everything brighter and that's how your card feels. Just adorable, girl!

Well this is just CUTE in my opinion. I love the colors on Tilda (not to bright at all) and your clouds are divine. The only thing I would change is the DP.

I think it is lovely! I can't believe this is your mess-up. I hope I can become as good as your mess-up! LOL. I just love the sky. Very creative.

Your sky did turn out amazing, and I think you are too hard on yourself! One thing that I do notice though is how your coloring with Copic markers has progressed. When I started, I almost thought I had made a huge mistake in buying them. It took tons of time before I was actually happy with my work. You've come a long way baby! Considering how hard the medium is and that this was beginning, you did an awsome job!
