Magnolia Design Team Challenge #1!!

We've started something new on the Magnolia Design Team!! Inge issued the first Magnolia DT Challenge last week, which I had time to play with on Friday night. The challenge was to make a card with one of the very first Magnolia stamps that you ever got!

So I pulled out my box of many Magnolias (I know, I need a better storage system for them than a box), and tried to remember which ones were among the first that I had purchased. I bought my first bunch of images from Phebe at The Town Scrapper when she got her first shipment last fall, so I had a few to choose from for this card.

I grabbed this cute image of Tilda in her bathing suit in a rubber ring. Since it's feeling a LOT like summer here in Ontario this weekend (woohoo, it's hot!), I figured this would be a perfect choice!

I stamped the image on Wausau bright white cardstock in Archival Brilliance Graphite Black ink and coloured her in using my Copic markers. I pulled the colours from the summery We R Memory Keepers designer papers from the White Out line. I cut out an oval scallop from Apricot Appeal cardstock using my Nestabilities and Cuttlebug for Tilda to be mounted on. The sentiment is a single clear stamp from Imaginisce that I also got from Phebe. I found some Prima flowers that matched perfectly with the papers and attached them using large brads and also added a trio of blue ones below the sentiment. Lastly I wound some celery grosgrain ribbon across the middle of the card and punched a small circle in one end and brought the ribbon through the hole and knotted it. Then I pop dotted Tilda on top, added Stardust Stickles on her wings and added a few little highlights with white acrylic paint.

On Friday I drove to Petrolia to visit with stamping friends, have some yummy food and buy a few stamps!! It was a great afternoon! I had delicious fish and chips (I think that's my favourite at Actor's so far) and bought some awesome stamps and embellishments at The Town Scrapper!

Then yesterday I went shopping in the US with our family and we also brought along Emileigh's friend for the trip. We stopped at Mary Maxim first (I would have lingered longer but I was getting dragged out within minutes!) and I picked up a couple of Copic markers and two of the new Cuttlebug folders, the Paisley one and the Floral one. Then we drove over to the Hobby Lobby which is conveniently located next door to Best Buy, so we all can shop at the same time. Everything I picked up at HL was 50% off!! Can you believe it?? I got a package of the Cosmo Cricket Honey Pie papers, a few packages of small brads, large brads, sparkly brads and a large star punch by EKSuccess....ALL 50% off!! Yipeeeeee! I also zipped in to Joann's and picked up a stack of DCWV Summer Glitter papers that were 50% off too. We also took the girls out for lunch to Coney Island, to TJMaxx and to the big mall so they could do their shopping. They spent all their money at their favourite store, Hollister! Teenage girls!! We went to Target and Meijer too and picked up a few things. All in all, it was a great shopping day!!!

This morning I spent a while organizing my craft room and now I'm sitting down to stamp a little. Everyone else is still pooped out from yesterday and they're still snoozing. Yay! Hope you all have a wonderful day!!
