Charlie the Chimney Sweep...and Blog Candy!!

Have you seen all the wonderful new winter images at Whiff of Joy?? The new designs by Elisabeth Bell are just gorgeous!! And while I'm waiting for mine to make the trip across the miles, I made this Charlie the Chimney Sweep card!

Apparently, back in the day, Chimney Sweeps were considered good luck! Do you remember the song from Mary Poppins that Dick Van Dyke sings .... "Chim chim-in-ey, chim chim-in-ey, Chim chim cher-ee! A sweep is as lucky, as lucky can be. Chim chim-in-ey, chim chim-in-ey, Chim chim cher-oo! Good luck will rub off when I shakes 'ands with you. Or blow me a kiss, and that's lucky too!' Love that song.

I decided the card must be distressed and dirty looking to go with the 'sooty' theme, so I used a 6x6 square of Old Olive and sponge around the edges and the dp I used is by We R Memorykeepers. I stamped Charlie on Wausau bright white cardstock and coloured him in with my Copics, then distressed around his edges too. I added brown satin ribbon through a metal ribbon slider, added some felt flowers by Heidi Swapp, a green Prima flower, some metal hardware and pop dotted the main layer!

Are YOU feeling lucky??? Well, if you are, you could win the lovely Charlie with matching sentiment!! Just leave me a comment here and tell me something you've won before! And it could be a prize, a random draw, a trophy perhaps! Let me know how lucky you are!! Leave your comment here by Friday, November 14th at midnight EST and I'll draw a random winner to post on Saturday!!!

Also Whiff of Joy has some great specials on the new stamps!!! Hop on over there and check 'em out!! Scoop them up before they're all gone!!

Well, I have the day off from the library today and I plan to stamp my little heart out!!!

I once won a return trip for 2 to Amsterdam in 1986. I was born in the Netherlands so I saved enough money to take our 2 children who were 8 and 10 at the time and we went there in May 1987 and stayed for almost 3 weeks. We did the touristy things and also stayed with aunts and cousins. It was the trip of a lifetime and we had a blast.

I've been VERY lucky the past few days. Which is weird because I never win anything! But I won a Paper Crafts subscription and a beautiful blog candy with HH stamps and a Basic Grey paper pad, among other things!

I love that song! I've always had a crush on Dick Van Dyke. ;)

Hi Kimmie
I once entered a music quiz on the radio and won first prize - a DAVID ESSEX album - you can tell how old I am - it was an album and in the 70's!!

That little chimney sweep is just about the cutest thing I've ever seen. Hmmm . . . I'm not real lucky. The only thing that I can remember winning was when I was in second grade - I won a coloring contest and got to go to dinner with the Chief of Police for the town where I grew up. Hehehe It was exciting back then!!

Well, this is a cute stamp. I've supposedly won a Polaroid Pogo (printer) but it hasn't arrived yet! But last year I won a Monstrous Baloo Bear from Jungle Book. It was as tall as me! Alas I had to sell it because it was too big. Stamps would be easier to hang on to!!

Charlie is soooo adorable and unique...I've won bikes, turkeys, books and a couple of paper crafts magazines contests...

Which I just love and use often.

This card is adorable! I love that you made it look "dirty". A few weeks ago I was super lucky and won a blog candy for a new Hanna Stamps set! I'm rarely a winner with things like this so I was extremely excited! It helped to build my stamp collection since I'm a new stamper!

Kimmie what a super cute card! And Mary Poppins....I LOVE the movie...it's one of my ultimate favorites!!!! I used to watch that movie over and over and over again...I am surprised the tape isn't wore out!

As for lucky...my hubby is a huge NASCAR fan and 5 years ago he tried putting his name in the lottery for Bristol (Tennessee) tickets (which are sought after greatly) well he didn't get picked from the lottery for tickets so the next year we tried putting his name in, my name, and my father-in-laws and my name was chosen. So got had season tickets for that past 4 years! My hubby said I had a lucky horseshoe or something! hee hee! I hope this luck helps me win this Charlie! :) Thanks for giving away a great prize!

Hugs~ Kim

I have never won anything and concluded that I simply had no luck at all, (which is better than having bad luck). All that changed on July 4th, when my daughter was born. Because my husband and I correctly predicted her due date and because she arrived without intervention, we won $1300 in gift certificates from Sears to be used for baby related stuff. It was pretty amazing!

Hi Kimmie.
I can't think of anything I've won!! My Mum always tells me that I couldn't win a bag of sand if I lived in the desert! But onto chimney sweeps. On the day of my Mum & Dads wedding,a genuine chimney sweep waved and blew a kiss at my Mum. Everyone told her how lucky it was. Guess so, they had their 55th wedding anniversary this year. Thanks for the chance to enter.

Hey Kimmie: love the Charlie..you coloured him so well. The distressing is a wonderful touch.

I have won before. LOL...my friend are tired of inviting me to parties. I win the door prizes most of the time. My big win was a night out with the Days of Our Lives men and the Y&R. I won the contest through Global T.V. That was in 2000. I won the Silhouette and the Revolution as well as a bunch of acrylic stamps at my local scrapbook store. I had 30 seconds to grab anyting I wanted in the 1,000 range. I won a basket gift grand prize of Pebbles Inc., through Lil Scrapper's first on-line crop and many other prizes here and there. I will one day try my luck at the lottery. For now I am trying my luck here to win Charlie..he is so sweeeeep (sweet).

I entered a charity cardmaking contest recently. You were supposed to make Christmascards that would be sent to soldiers in Iraq, so they would have a card to send to their families in the US. For every card you made you got an entry. I made 5 cards, there were around 2300 cards in total and I got picked for one of the prizes. Now that was lucky!

Hoping to have the same luck here ;)

A couple of years ago our phone company was giving away 1,000,000 airline miles - and I won 40,000 of them! I never thought I would have too many miles, but they just sat in my account until this summer. I was able to fly myself, mom, brother and sister-in-law to Texas for my grandfather's funeral. Well I haven't had lots of luck lately, but my best win was around 1987 or 1988. I entered a teacher at my high school into a radio station's contest for the NERDIEST TEACHER! It just so happened I worked on the school paper and had access to oodles of photos! I entered him and actually forgot about the contest. One day after school the radio station called me and I thought it was a joke. They let me know they were serious and that I had won a TV, VCR & 8mm CAM CORDER. That was it .... my moment of fame! My treasure ... now if I could just get lucky enough to win this adorable fella ... I'd take him home and love him dearly!

Last year I won a great garden set with a table and 4 seats in stone, 2 water elements, pottery to put plants in, etc. It was hard work because we had to rearrange our garden completely but it looks really nice now. Thanks for a chance to win! Greetings from Belgium, Annelies

I usually don't win very much, but at a Branch Meeting for work this spring I was one of the lucky winners of a door prize. I won a beautiful handmade purse from Pakistan that was completely hand beaded. Absolutely gorgous!

I have been pretty lucky when it comes to blog candy. I won a $25 gift certificate from Stamping Bella once and I have won 2 different sets of stamps from different blogs. Thanks for the opportunity to win this stamp.

Fab card, such a cute image. I'm not very lucky myself, and don't really win much, but my husband won a motorbike in a competition last year.

Love your card. He is cute! The only thing I've won in the past is a Canon digital camera which I believe was Karma. I had my digital camera stolen in Vegas when I left it beside me. Of course, I already went out to purchase another one so when I won this I was really excited. I gave it to my mom & dad who don't own a digital camera!
