Friday Sketchers Week #4!!

Is it Friday again already??? Man these weeks are flying by! Before you know it, it will be summer time!!! Yaaaay!!

Well, it's time for another sketch challenge from the gals at Friday Sketchers!! This week's sketch has been designed by Heidi from Norway! It's a nice and simple sketch (I like that kind) and I had fun playing with it!

I decided to play with my new brick wall, birdie and Sitting Shabby Tilda! The card base is a Chocolate Chip square with Real Red for layering. The patterned paper is from the Basic Grey Blush line and I distressed that layer and also added piercing around the edge using my Mat Pack. For the stamping layer I first inked up only half of the brick wall stamp and also stamped some clouds and the birdie. I also stamped Tilda separately then coloured them all in and cut out Tilda. I pop dotted her to sit on the brick wall, doesn't she look cute in her little half shirt? I added Stardust Stickles on the edges of the clouds and on Tilda's wings. Lastly I added some velvet flower brads by Imaginisce in the corner.

Hop on over to the Friday Sketchers Blog and check out the designs created by our very own Sassy Sketchers and I hope you can join in the challenge!! We also have another sponsor this week, which is just fabulous!!!

I have the morning off and then I work this afternoon and evening and I work all day on Saturday too....boooooo!!! Hope you have a great weekend!!!

My Favorite Things Sketch Challenge #32!!

I love it when I have enough time in the week to join in on the challenges that I love!! This week's My Favorite Sketch Challenge is a great one!!

I decided to use the mini set Friends Furever on this card and I had some great doggie dp handy to use with it. The card base is Close to Cocoa and the dp is by Around the Block. I stamped the image on Wausau bright white cardstock using Archival Brilliance Graphite Black ink and coloured them in using my handy dandy....Copics!!! I trimmed up the image, making sure not to cut through the dog's tail and then cut that part out by hand, so it overlaps the edge of the 'frame'. The coordinating cardstock colours I used are Bordering Blue, Pumpkin Pie and Old Olive. I used the scalloped circle punch and a smaller circle punch to make that little circle layer and added a couple of pawprint brads that I picked up at the $ store. I pop dotted the main image and added four brads in the corners as a finishing touch.

There is a fantastic new sketch posted each week by the lovely and talented Cindy, my fellow MFTDT member, so you should hop on over to the MFT forum at SCS if ya like sketches!!

Well, today is my only day off this week and I've got a gazillion things to do!! Lots of DT samples I have to work on, housework to do, weeds to pull, science projects to assist with this afternoon, you know the drill!! But it's a beautiful sunny day, so I hope you enjoy yours!!!!

My Favorite Things Sketch Challenge #32!!

Two Scoops Love!!

Well, it's going to be another busy day today, even though I don't work until later this afternoon. I've got a bunch of running around to do today, so this will be a quickie posting!

Today's card features another one of the Tilda stamps from the Spring club kit from Magnolia. I used the patterned paper and matching brads from the Two Scoops line by Basic Grey. I stamped Tilda first on Wausau bright white cardstock using Archival Brilliance Graphite Black ink, then I masked her and overstamped her with the fence stamp. Then I coloured and shaded them using my Copic markers. The card base is Not Quite Navy with some Soft Sky for layering and the rest is dp. I added some Basic Grey brads and some matching Prima flowers. Then sentiment is from the Can Ya Dig It? stamp set by My Favorite Things and is stamped on So Saffron. Not sure if you can really see it in the photo, but I almost always shade around my images with a light grey marker. OH and I also added some white highlights on her cheeks and skirt with acrylic paint.

Have a happy, stampy day!!!

A Best Friend.....

After a loooooong day of work, I love to come home and colour. It's so relaxing....really. Don't you think so?? If someone had told me a few years ago that I would love lined images and like to colour in my images with fancy schmancy markers, I would have said you were insane! Totally, not my thing. I never even took art in school. But I've really grown to love it and that's really my extent of being 'artsy'!

Back to my long day at work. Yesterday was supposed to be my day off, but I was covering for my boss, so I worked 9-5pm. So it was Monday morning and guess what my first question of the day was? I had a lady call me at the reference desk and ask me 'Can you give me a list of all the Clown Clubs in Melbourne, Australia?'......you should have seen the look on my face. I almost asked her if she was serious, or if this was a prank phone call!!! Really, we hear the most bizarre questions!!!

Anyway, I come home to soothe my aching brain by colouring my stamps!! heehee!! I love to join in the different challenges that are posted all over the 'stamping world' and there are so many to choose from. One of my favourites is Cute Card Thursday, 'cause ya know I love CUTE!!! This week's challenge is a fabulous sketch, which I got a chance to play with over the weekend!!

I pulled out a sitting Tilda from the Shabby Chic collection and some lovely papers from the Nana's Nursery Baby Boy Stack from DCWV. Now I originally didn't have the dark blue/green Copic marker to match these papers in the sets that I had, but I asked my pal, Michelle which one she used in her card, and she shared with me that it was BG72 Ice Ocean. SO that's the first one I grabbed when I visited Mary Maxim a couple of weekends ago. Thanks, Michelle!!!

Also, I thought I'd also let you know that I've found a new favourite marker for the skin tone! I'm really lovin' E02 Pink Flamingo, that I picked up at the same time! It's more of a pinky tone to it and then I use E02 Fruit Pink to blend into the cheeks.

So I used textured Blue Bayou for the 6x6 square base and layered two of the sparkly papers from the stack and tied wide grosgrain ribbon in Certainly Celery around the middle. I scalloped the bottom of the top layer of dp and punched a tiny hole in each scallop too. I made a little cameo type layer from Very Vanilla and Soft Sky for Tilda to sit on and added those lovely sheer blossoms and leaves by Creative Impressions with glitter brads. The sentiment layer is popped up and I used a stamp from my new Full of Live SU set. Of course, Tilda is pop dotted on her perch and I added some highlights with white acrylic paint.

Well, I'm off to work again today, all day. Hopefully I don't get any crazy questions today....just simple ones! Hope you have a lovely sunny day where you are!!!

Life has it's Ups and Downs!!!

I had a lot of fun playing with Beate's Weekend Sketch #49 today!! I pulled out some new American Crafts dp that I picked up at Hobby Lobby on sale and inked up my Juliette's Leap of Faith stamp by High Hopes for the very first time!!

Of course, in Beate's sketch she has a circle layer but I changed mine to a rectangle in order to fit the image I wanted to use.....hope she doesn't mind!! I stamped Juliette in Archival Brilliance Graphite Black ink and coloured her in with my Copic markers. I love the colours on this image....nice and bright and I actually wouldn't have chosen to put these colours together normally, but they were in the dp and they go together really well! I used Cool Caribbean to mat Juliette and then the card base is a Lavender Lace square. I added some holes across the top of the dp using my mat pack and then placed a strip of Real Red across the center. I tied some satin ribbon that matches Cool Caribbean that I found in the wedding section of Target.....and it was on sale too!! I love the matching sentiment which is from High Hopes too, don't you?? Then I pop dotted Juliette and added a couple of buttons in the corner!

Besides stamping (I hear you *gasp*.....what else is there in life???) I did a bunch of spring cleaning today. I cleaned out my closet and put together two big rubbermaid totes full of clothes to give away. It feels really great to do stuff like that, don't you think?? It's a great sense of accomplishment when you see a big job all done. Unfortunately, there's always so much more to do, isn't there?? It's a never ending cycle....at least around here!!

Anyway, I'm off to work tomorrow. It's supposed to be my Monday off but my boss is taking a day of vacation so I'm working 9-5pm for him. Blech. It's an early morning, so I'm posting this on Sunday night.

Have a happy day!!!

Summer Picnic Martha!!

What a gorgeous weekend it is here in Ontario! The sun is shining and warm and the temperature is just perfect!! I sat outside on our deck on our outdoor furniture and had lunch for the first time this year yesterday and it was lovely. The sun was so warm.

Yesterday Al brought home the new National Treasure: Book of Secrets on DVD that was just released. In case I've never mentioned it, we are a HUGE movie watchin' family! That is our favourite thing to do together on the weekend as a family......sit down together in the livingroom and watch a great movie on the big screen together. Well, we decided to watch the first movie in the series before we watched the new one. They are such great fun adventure films and perfect for the whole family. Needless to say they were fabulous, lots of fun and funny as well.

Today's card is one I made a couple of months ago and features Sitting Martha from the Magnolia Goblin line. I don't like to think of her as a goblin though, just a cute little girl. So I used the Summer Picnic line of papers by SU to go with her and make the card nice and bright. The card base is Certainly Celery and the sketch is a Kimmie original....feel free to use it and then link me up, so I can check out your creations!! I used my Marvy Punches to make the circular area for her to 'sit' and added some yummy orange rick rack at the bottom, attached with SU brads. She is coloured in with Copic markers and pop dotted, the sentiment is by Papertrey and I also added a button as a finishing touch. Very simple card!

I am working on some Design Team stuff today, what are you doing????

Friday Sketchers Week #3!!!

Can I just tell you how excited I am at the response to the Friday Sketchers Challenges??? It's so amazing!!! I knew that I love sketches, but apparently you do too, because last week we had over 100 entries to sketch challenge #2!!! It's awesome!!!

This week's sketch is brought to us by Carole from England!!! I really liked playing with this sketch! I had so much fun with Swingin' Edwin last week that I played with him again as well as with those cool Cogsmo papers by Cosmo Cricket!

One of my favourite sentiments is the one I used on this card from Verve Visual....it's so inspiring, don't you think?? So I based my card around the sentiment and used some large star brads to decorate the 'sky' around Edwin. The card base is a 6x6 Blue Bayou with matching stitched grosgrain ribbon across the middle. I used my Creative Memories cutting system to make the circles for the middle and also the Photo Corner punch and Key Tag punch. I used my super-dee-duper Copic markers to colour Edwin in and popped him up. Then I added a couple of highlights on his cheeks and knee with white acrylic paint. It's a great sketch that I will use again!!

So head on over to the Friday Sketchers Blog and check out the designs made by those awesome Sassy Sketchers!!! Oh and there is a prize to be won this week.....and you just MAY have heard of our sponsor!!! *wink, wink*

I'm off to work all day again today, but I've got the whole weekend off!! Yeehoooo!!

Life's Simple Pleasures!!!

Can I just tell you how much I LOVE this Rakle girl???? She looks just like me in the morning.........well, close anyway. I paired it with this A Muse sentiment, because my most favourite thing in the whole world, is getting up in the morning, staying in my pyjamas all day and.....of course, spending my day stamping!! That's what I think of when I see this Rakle girl!!! It looks like she just got out of the shower and she is enjoying being in her pj's and ponytails!! She's so lucky, because she can stay in her housecoat all day and she doesn't have to go anywhere!

Am I a hermit??? Because I like to stay at home and chill out??? My husband likes to get out and go places and walk around. If I have a day off, I'd much rather hang out in my flannel pj pants, put my Ipod on and hang out in my craft room ALL day!!! I think it's because I'm with the public all day every day! My home is my sanctuary and my haven. I'd rather be here than anywhere else. Anyone else feel like that??

Okay, enough rambling....back to the card! I stamped my Rakle girl (her real name is Krilla Badekampe....??) on Wausau bright white cardstock using Archival Brilliance Graphite Black ink. The papers I pulled out, I think are perfect pyjama designs!! haha! They are all by My Mind's Eye and the square card base is Certainly Celery. I used my Copic markers to colour her in and matted her on Apricot Appeal. I added some yummy Prima flowers using SU brads, used my slot punch at the top and added some soft pink twill and tied it with linen thread and then I added some $ store buttons on the left. The sentiment is one I use often, because I really like it and I added a couple of small highlights on her cheeks using white acrylic paint and a tiny paintbrush.

I really wish I could stay like pyjama girl today, but I'm off to work again!!! I'm going to try to get something done this morning though, before I go. If you like the Rakles as much as I do, Phebe at The Town Scrapper carries them, so give her a ringy dingy if you'd like to know which ones she has.

Hey, did anyone else catch the results of American Idol last night??? Is anyone else as shocked as I am???? I saw the finale the night before when they both sang three songs and in my opinion, the other David was WAY better. He's got much more talent, as far as I'm concerned. They'll both do wonderfully well, though. I was just really surprised!!

Well, have a great day!!!

Changito Thank You!!!

Here is a quick Thank You card featuring the Changito Monkey!! Love these stamps by Stampendous! I believe Phebe at The Town Scrapper has some of these awesome critters! I whipped up a couple of these at the same time using the DCWV glittery paper, Bashful Blue card base and a scalloped edge in So Saffron. I faux stitched an edge and added some Dew Drops on the top left corner. Changito is coloured with Copic markers, matted on Cameo Coral and pop dotted!

Sorry this is a quickie post this morning but I only have the morning off and I have a gazillion things to do! One of the girls in my department has the week off and I am covering extra shifts this week, so not much time to stamp.

Hey, who saw the season finale of Dancing With the Stars last night???? I'm so glad ______ won! (I won't say the name in case you haven't seen it yet.) It was a great season and I'm sad it's over!! Let me see....what reality shows are up next?? I think So You Think You Can Dance starts this week and then The Mole....love that show!!

Well, have a super duper day!!!

Edwin, Ewe's So Sweet!!!

Happy Tuesday morning!!! It's back to school and work for us today, so it's rush, rush, rush this morning!!! Yesterday was a fabulous day for shopping and I got some great stuff!!!

I visited Mary Maxim for the first time and was surprised to see a rather large scrapbooking and stamping section, AND some Copic markers!!! I picked up a few colours that I don't currently have and used a couple of coupons!! Then we went to the mall and we ran in to Donna, who I work with and her family! Donna's never been to the Hobby Lobby, so I had to direct her over there.....and then we ran in to each other over there....imagine that!!!

I picked up some more Copics at Hobby Lobby and got them for 30% off, as well as some adhesive and boxed ribbon that were all 50% off!! Yay!!! I hopped in to Joann's as well, since I had a coupon and guess who was in there??? Yep, Donna!!! All the DCWV stacks were on sale, so I HAD to pick up a few, right??? Can't pass up a sale....and then I didn't even use my coupon!! Aaahhhh, it was a perfect shopping day!!!

Today's card features the sitting/swingin' Edwin that was in the Magnolia Spring Stamp Club Kit. Isn't he precious?? I used a square card base from Blue Bayou and the dp is called Cogsmo by Cosmo Cricket and has awesome boy colours! I used the swing which is also from the Club Kit and that cute sheep. The sentiment is by High Hopes. I coloured them all in using my Copics and cut out and pop dotted the sheep and Edwin. I added some Prima flowers and the punches in the middle are made using an SU punch. I used pewter hardware and added some baubles on the top right. I really love the way it turned out!!

Okay, gotta run! The library will be insane today after the long weekend!! Hope you have a good one!!!

Ipod Girl!!

Have you heard of Rakle stamps???? I just got a couple from Phebe at The Town Scrapper and I LOVE them!!! They are rather large and long stamps and they have a totally unique look. I'm not sure where they come from, but I know it's in Europe!

When I looked at them in the store I admired their very colourful and professional packaging and thought they were very different and that I might give them a try. Well when I got them home and took them out of the packaging I realized that they are a real quality product. They are made from thick, deeply etched rubber and mounted on EZmount. They cling to a thick plastic card with a colour picture of the image on the opposite side, so that you could store them in a little box or something and just flip through them easily to find the one you want! Very cool idea! Then I stamped with them and they stamped like a dream too!! Yay!

I made a long card with this girl, that I call Ipod girl. I used some coordinating Fancy Pants paper and some retired Rose Romance cardstock from SU. I coloured her using my Copic markers, added some Primas with silver brads and attached some yummy satin ribbon from Michael's. The sentiment is by Verve Visual and I used one of the new silver bookplates from SU. A very simple card but I really like it!

Well, it's a quick post this morning because we are off to shop in the US today. It's a holiday Monday here in Ontario so this is our chance to visit the stores in the US because they are open!!! I get to go to Hobby Lobby (my favourite craft store ever) and I'm going to try to find Mary Maxim too!! I'll let you know how I make out shoppin'!!! Have a great day!!

You're a Hoooooooooot!!!

Sorry I didn't post yesterday, but I had to work all day at the library!! It was painful, let me tell ya because I received my package full of Magnolias from The Town Scrapper on Friday morning and I haven't even had time to open them!!! I was daydreaming about all their rubbery goodness while I was supposed to be helping patrons at the library!!! Hahaha!! Pretty pathetic, hunh??

Well, this card features my favourite owl, Frances from High Hopes!!! She is so soft and fluffy and I think you could do some really cool stuff with some flocking on this animal!! Unfortunately, I don't have flocking!!! So my Copic colouring will have to do!!

I used Chocolate Chip for the card base and some My Mind's Eye papers for the layering and also some Pumpkin Pie cardstock! I stamped Frances on Wausau bright white cardstock and coloured her in using my Copic markers. I punched her out using my Marvy punches and popped her up on pop dots! I used my new poly/twill chocolate ribbon across the bottom and distressed the Pumpkin Pie layer. The sentiment is also from High Hopes and I punched it out with my tab punch and added a felt flower with a brad.

Well, it's a rainy, dreary day in Ontario today, so I'm off to stamp all day and all night!!! Hope you get to do the same!!!

Friday Sketchers Week #2!!

Well, I am completely overwhelmed at the amazing response to our International Sketch Blog!!! Last week we had over 3500 visitors and over 120 entries to the first sketch!!! Holy Canoli!!!! That's just awesome!!!

This week, my friend Beatrix from Germany is the hostess!! She has a fabulous sketch for you to try out! Funnily enough, we both used the same Magnolia image on our sample cards and didn't know it until we'd uploaded them!! hahaha! Great minds, think alike, I guess!! Oh and there is an amazing prize for a random winner this week, sponsored by Kim at My Favorite Things!!!

I made this card for my mother-in-law for Mother's Day last weekend. I used a Tilda image from the Stamp Club Kit for the main image and an Inkadinkado stamp for the sentiment. The patterned paper I used is some retired SU paper and I can't remember the name of it.....something like Spring Showers, I think? Anyway the cardstock is Blush Blossom, Certainly Celery and Close to Cocoa. I added several layers of Prima flowers, some grosgrain ribbon and some white paint was used for the highlights on Tilda. My mother-in-law really loved her card.

Well, I'm off to work....again....but I hope you get a chance to play along with this week's sketch challenge on Friday Sketchers!!

Merci, Tilda!!!

I'm having a lot of fun playing with the new Tildas that I got from The Town Scrapper last week!! In fact, I'm colouring so much skintone with my Copic markers, that I've had to order reinkers already!! Yikes!

Today's card features Paris Tilda....isn't she cute?? And this is my attempt at a 'scene' card. I stamped the grass stamped twice, side by side and added a few clouds and a couple of dragonflies. I stamped Tilda on a separate piece of cardstock, then coloured everything in and cut Tilda out. I trimmed down the scenery piece and layered it on Soft Sky. The card base is a Pretty in Pink 6x6 square card layered with Soft Sky and I used a piece of Just Dreamy patterned paper by My Mind's Eye that I also got from The Town Scrapper (Do you think it just might be my favourite local stamp and scrap shop??). The scalloped piece at the top is a diecut strip that came in the collection package along with the scalloped circle piece at the bottom and I just stamped 'merci' on it from one of the SU Sell-a-bration sets. I added two glitter brads at the top, some yummy matching satin ribbon that I picked up at Target and pop dotted everything! Then I added Stardust Stickles to the clouds and the dragonflies' wings. Simple layout, but I don't think it needs anything more!

Well, today is technically supposed to be my day off but I am going in this afternoon to help with a special Open House. A lady that works with us is retiring today after 33 years and we are putting on a tea for her at the library. We'll have lots of setting up and cleaning up to do, but it will hopefully be a nice afternoon for her to say goodbye to all of her friends, coworkers, and patrons. I think I can take a few hours out of stampin' for that!! *wink*

Happy Stampin'!!

Life's a Beach!!!!

Okay, here's my second post for today!!! I was able to carve out a few minutes to join in the SCS Sketch Challenge for today!! Yippeeeeee! It also gave me an excuse to use my new Riley stamp that I picked up at The Town Scrapper last week!!

I grabbed this awesome Bo Bonny Press dp that features some Island flowers that I thought would go perfectly with Riley in his hammock! I used Kraft cardstock for the base and coloured Riley in with coordinating Copic markers and layered him on Old Olive. The bottom left section is So Saffron and I stamped the floral images from Best Blossoms by SU on it. I added some stitched grosgrain ribbon in Soft Sky and some Old Olive brads across the bottom. The sentiment is from Twisted Sentiments by My Favorite Things on Apricot Appeal and layered on Soft Sky. The lovely sheer blossoms are by Creative Impressions and attached with more SU brads, then the focal layer and the sentiment are both pop dotted for that funky 3-D effect!!

Now, I really wish I could spend the rest of the day just chillin' like Riley here, but unfortunately I have to head in to work! Hope you have a super stampy day!!

New MFT Releases!!

Can I just tell you that I'm always excited to make samples for the My Favorite Things Release parties?? It's just so much fun and the images are just a hoot to play with! Each month I know that during the first week, we're going to have a few days of Teasers and then a fun party over in the MFT forum at SCS. It's just so much fun to be a part of! Anyway, here are a few Teasers that I posted on the night of the May Release party but haven't posted here on my blog yet!!

For this first one I used two of the new sets, Gone to the Dogs and Friends Furever. I also pulled out my new Basic Grey Sultry 6x6 pad and used one pattern for the main piece and another coordinating piece to paper piece her skirt. I used my Copic markers and some ruffled chocolate ribbon and then made the cool sentiment layer and added a bone button. I also used the stitching stamp from another older set called Setting the Stage which is on sale until June 1st!

This next one uses the Friends Furever set along with some great new patterned paper by My Mind's Eye that I picked up at The Town Scrapper. It's perfect boy paper! I used my rectangle Nestabilities, added a pawprint brad and used Setting the Stage to make the faux ribbon strip at the bottom!

And this last one used both the dog sets again, only this time I used the Jack Russell Terrier to make my dog Daisy!!! heehee!! I used my favourite new Stampin' Up designer papers called Afternoon Tea, along with some SU buttons and the chocolate poly/twill ribbon!

I've just received the sets for June's release and let me tell you, they are gonna knock your socks off........but of course, you're going to have to wait 'til then to see them!! Heeheehee!!!

Magnolias are in the HOOOOOOOOOOUSE!!!

Phebe gave me the go-ahead to let you all know that she got another shipment of Magnolias yesterday afternoon at The Town Scrapper!!! Woooohoooooo!!! This time the lovelies are from the Shabby Chic line that has been released!! There are Tildas and Edwins and pets and accessories....aaaghh!! These ones are probably some of my favourites so far as they sort of resemble the old Holly Hobbie images, if you remember them, but only CUTER!!! Anyway, she has them all priced and ready to fly out the door, so if you'd like to place your order, I would call her or email her right away!!! (mpmeeder@sympatico.ca)

The card I'm sharing with you today features a couple of stamps that I picked up last week when I visited Phebe in Petrolia. I used this tiny little stool that is perfect for this leaning Tilda! (And I believe Phebe might have one or two of each of these images left from her last order too!) I stamped Tilda first using Archival Brilliance Graphite Black ink onto Wausau bright white cardstock (which I get from Walmart, super cheap!) and then masked Tilda and stamped the stool overtop, so it gives the illusion that she is leaning on it.

I pulled out some older Fancy Pants designer papers that are from the same line and coordinate and chose my colours from there. The rosey purple colour I used for her sweater, shoes and headband are a very pretty colour and when I went to find some cardstock to match, I was at a loss. Well, then I remembered some retired SU cardstock that I had and wouldn't you know, old Rose Romance is a perfect match!!! I made a tag using Blush Blossom and the sentiment is from a Papertrey set and added some stitched grosgrain ribbon, added some Primas and glitter brads, and of course added some Stardust Stickles on her wings. The last thing I did was add some dotted highlights using a tiny paintbrush and some white acrylic paint. I learned this neat little trick from my pal, Inge.

Anyway, I'm off to work all day today...yick!! Hopefully you get to stamp and scrap! And maybe even get your hands on some Magnolia stamps for yourself!!! Have a great day!!

Tilda Two-fer One!

Well, I hope you all had a Happy Mother's Day! It was a dreary, yucky, rainy day here in Ontario, but we had a lovely day with family! Today, the weather is much the same but that's okay, because I have the day off!! Yippeeeeee, stamping for meeeeee!

Today's 'Two-fer' features a recently released Tilda holding a lovely little blossom. I decided to make a couple of generic notecards with no sentiments on them so that I could either add the sentiment on when I got to use it or just leave it blank and use it for any occasion.

So I pulled out some leftovers of the Imaginisce For Peep's Sake papers to use on these cards and coloured the Tildas to coordinate with the patterned papers. (I think these papers and colours make the cards super springy!!) I coloured them each a little differently, then played around with the placement of the pieces of dp, added some coordinating ribbon, Prima flowers and brads and voila!! They are finished. Really very simple and all ready to send!!

Well, it looks as though you all are enjoying the new Friday Sketchers blog!!! There have already been over 2000 visitors and over 70 of you have already posted comments and entries to the first challenge!!! That is awesome!! And you still have 4 days to join in the fun and enter!!! Fantastic!!

Happy Mother's Day!!!

I got a chance to play with some new Magnolia stamps this weekend and here is the card I made for my Mom for Mother's Day!! No lookin' Mom!!!

I started out by stamping the row of grass with tulips twice across a piece of Wausau bright white cardstock and then I stamped Tilda on a separate piece. I used the colours from the Afternoon Tea patterned papers, so I took the colours from there. I coloured them in using my Copic markers, of course and then I cut Tilda out. The card base is a 6x6 square made from Groovy Guava textured cardstock and I used Chocolate Chip to layer and then the piece of dp which I distressed around the edges. I made the sentiment layer with an Inkadinkado stamp, circle punch and scalloped circle punch and then pierced a hole in each scallop. I added three Basic Grey brads in the open space on the right, attached some guava ribbon and a hodgepodge ribbon slider on the bottom and pop dotted Tilda. Then I finished her off by adding some Stardust Stickles on her wings and also a few highlighting dots using a paintbrush and some white acrylic paint.

We'll be heading out in a couple of hours as we have a couple of stops to make before we drop over at Al's parents' house and then we're driving an hour and a half to my parents' house for supper.

Have a wonderful Mother's Day!!!

Celebrate the Journey Two-Fer!!!

Here's a My Favorite Things Two-fer-One featuring one of the newest stamp sets from the May release!! This set is called Goin' Places and I stamped up a couple of quick cards with it as samples for the Release Party last week!

For this first one I used a Basic Black regular sized card base and a piece of patterned paper from the Just Dreamy collection by My Mind's Eye. The image is coloured in with Copic markers and I paper pieced her dress with coordinating paper. The sentiment is stamped up the side and highlighted with Cool Shadow marker and I added some wide grosgrain ribbon and attached some tiny Primas with SU brads.

The second one is a white base and I used the same line of papers and paper pieced her dress again. This time I added a sheer blossom from Creative Impressions and attached it with another SU brad. Both very simple designs but both really cute!

Well, yesterday was a MOST interesting day for me! I had the day off from work and decided to take a drive to my favourite stamp store in Petrolia, The Town Scrapper!!! I went to see my pal Phebe and pick up some EZmount that she had put aside for me........well, that wasn't all I came home with!!! I got some Rileys and some Rakles and some more Magnolias!!! I picked up some paper and some Primas too!!! I can't wait to get some time to play with them! THEN we went over to Actor's to have some lunch with Ellen and when we got there, the waitress told us that Ellen wasn't going to make it for lunch because her daughter had just gone into labour!!!! How exciting!!!! I guess we can forgive her for not making lunch right??? And this is her first grandbaby too!!! Well, I got an email later on when I was back home and she had a little baby girl at 1:26pm!!! Wow, that was fast!!!! I saw her picture and she is adorable!!! I'm SO excited for her!! What a perfect Mother's Day weekend for Ellen and her daughter! Congratulations to them!!

Have a great day!!
