Kim and Tara Challenge #8.....finally!!!

Okay, here it is!!! I was finally able to get my pictures up!! yaaaaaaaaaay!! Sorry it's so late....

I'm not sure if you know this, but every month my pal Tara and I do a little challenge. One of us sends the images and the other sends the papers...then we see what each of us comes up with using the same image and papers!! So this month, Tara sent me some fairy images by Paper Makeup Stamps and this one we used is called Sprout! I believe that The Town Scrapper carries this line of stamps. So I sent Tara these summery papers by Inque Boutique and the combination is fab!!

The fairy image is stamped on Wausau paper using Memento Tuxedo Black ink and I coloured her in using coordinating Copic markers. The colours I used are: E000, R20, E42, E43, BG11, BG23, Y32, YR12, G20 and G82.

I used my Nesties to cut it out and emboss it, then I went over the embossed area using BG11. I card base is a 6x6 Bazzill yellow cardstock and I layered several of the different double sided papers. I used some frilly cream ribbon, added some layered Prima flowers and used my label punch and hardware for the sentiment layer. I finished it off by making her wings sparkle with my Stardust Sakura gel pen. Oh and I pop dotted the main layer....like you didn't know that was coming!

Now be sure to hop over to Tara's blog and check out her gorgeous creation!!

Kimmie and Tara Challenge!!

I know you've been waiting for it.....we're a little behind this month, or are we still on last month, Tara?! haha!! It's been a while since our last Kimmie and Tara Challenge and it's all my fault! I kept forgetting to mail out the images to Tara, then I got them all packaged up and the envelope got buried on my desk (if you saw my desk, you'd understand)...so it's totally my bad that we are behind.

But with this combo of adorable image and super sweet papers, I hope you'll enjoy them!!!! I sent Tara some of the new Heidi Pixie images by CCDesigns and Tara sent me some of this scrumptious, fruity designer paper!! Don't ya think they are perfect together? I have to admit, when I first started, I wasn't so sure...but now I LOVE them together!! She's a fruity fairy!!

The image is stamped on Wausau bright white cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black ink and I coloured her in with Copics that coordinated with the yummy dp. The card base is a 6x6 square Yoyo Yellow card with Pumpkin Pie and Regal Rose for matting. I paper pierced all around the frame of the bottom later and added some sheer green polka dot ribbon and tied it in a bow. I attached some Prima flowers with $ store flower centers with Zip-Dry (the best liquid glue). The sentiment is by Pink Cat Studios and I stamped it on a bit of blue cardstock to give it a little pop! I pop dotted the sentiment and the focal layers and finished her off by adding some super sparkle with Stardust Stickles on her wings!!

For those that are interested, here are the Copic colours that I used: E00, R20, YG03, YR12, YR14, B000, B00, R35, R32 and Y08!

She really makes me think of summer....ahhhh! Sadly it's raining cats and dogs here in Southwestern Ontario today. BUT it's my day off....good reason to stay indoors and stamp....I mean clean.....NO, I mean stamp!! Haha!!

Be sure to hop over to Tara's blog and check out the design she made using the same ingredients!! I can't wait to seeeeee!!! Thanks again for another fab challenge, Tara!! Mwah!!!

Kim and Tara Challenge #6!!!

Happy Wednesday people!!! It's time for another fun and fabulous Kim and Tara Challenge!!! Yippeeee!

Tara and I first 'met' over a year ago through blogging. She is a super talented stamper and an unbelievably nice person. I remember reading some of her first loooooong emails to me and thinking 'Man, this girl can yak.....we're gonna be the BEST of friends!!' Hahaha!!

Finally, we were able to meet in person a couple of weeks ago at the Copic Certification workshop! She is exactly the cute, sweet gal that I imagined she would be. Sadly, we only got to hang out for the day and that was only on breaks and at lunch. I really think we're going to need to hang out again soon! Heehee!

So this month it was Tara's turn to pick the image and my turn to pick the papers. We traded items in Toronto and I was so excited to see that she had chosen a Sarah Kay stamp, because she knows I don't have any of them! The papers I picked are called Chocolate by Cloud Nine. Pink and brown...shocking, I know. I threw a little blue in there too, though!!

Of course I coloured the image in using my Copic markers using colours that coordinated with the dps and the layout is a Kimmie original....so feel free to use it! Haha! I added some rich red on the flowers to make it pop and then cut the image out and embossed it using my new Nestabilities!!! I wanted to bring out more of the blue in the papers so added some blue ric rack and stamped the AmyR sentiment on Brocade Blue cs. To finish it off I added some pretty Prima hydrangeas and attached them with big chocolate brads! I'm really happy with the way it turned out.

Now, I got a couple of comments recently that I wanted to address. Trish asked about the sizes of my cards. I generally do a lot of square cards and I almost always tell you in my post what size it is, whether it's 6x6 or 5 1/4 x 5 1/4 and sometimes I do regular A2 size as well. As for the layers, I could never tell you what the measurements are because I just eyeball them. Whatever looks good to me, is how I cut it.

Someone else said they had some questions about one of my cards and asked me to email them. Unfortunately, if you don't leave me an email address, I can't contact you. So if anyone ever has any specific questions, feel free to email me directly....there is a link on my sidebar. Thanks!!

Okay, now head on over to Tara's blog to check out her amazing creation. I got a sneak peek already and it's gorgeous! I love her scrappy style!!! Thanks for another fab challenge Tara!! Hugs!!!

Kim and Tara Challenge #5!!

It's time for another challenge between my friend Tara and I! I sent her an image and she sent me some dp and we see what we come up with, given the same ingredients!

Well, the lovely papers that Tara sent are new Fancy Pants by Michelle Coleman and the colours are lovely. So I coloured the image, which is Jenny's Glow Bugs by High Hopes, using my Copic markers in coordinating colours. I used my Curved Rectangle Nestabilties to cut her out and emboss the frame and I covered the jar of fireflies with crystal lacquer to make it look like a real jar.

The card base is a 6x6 Tempting Turquoise square and everything else is dp. I added a strip of pink taffeta ribbon and some crocheted lacey ribbon by Chatterbox layered over top. The turquoise felt flowers are also by Chatterbox and the flower brad in the middle is by Imaginisce. Finally, the sentiment is stamped directly onto the dp!

Be sure to slide over to the High Hopes website as they've just released a TON of new images and sentiments over the weekend, so check 'em out!

Well, this has been yet another successful challenge between Tara and myself! Head on over to Tara's blog, Inking on the Edge to see how she made out with the challenge!!

Today is Family Day so the schools are closed and I've got the day off work. So later this morning I am picking my girllfriend, Donna up and we are heading over to a few stamping stores to do some shopping!! Heehee! Have a great day!!

Kim and Tara Challenge.....#4!!!

So Tara and I decided to kick things into high gear this year with our friendly challenges! This time I picked out some coordinating patterned papers and mailed them to Tara, while she stamped up a few copies of a particular image and mailed them to me. The thing was, neither of us knew what the other one was sending!!! So I could have ended up putting a rather feminine looking dude image on my pink and purples flowery papers!! That would not have been good....but therein lies the challenge!! Haha!

Instead I got this adorable Sarah Kay image which went perfectly with the Three Bugs in a Rug dp that I picked out!!! I used Orchid Opulence for the square card base along with some rosey Bazzill Bling...which I love because it's so shiny and glittery! I used my Threading Water scalloped border punch on some green BBling cardstock and placed it across the middle and added some sheer polka dotty ribbon. I used my Copics on the image and cut and embossed it with my Curved Rectangles Nesties and pop dotted it. I attached some lovely matchy matchy Prima hydrangeas with Basic Grey brads and the sentiment is from My Favorite Things!

What a fabulous challenge! Now go and check out Tara's blog, Inking on the Edge to see her amazing creation!!!

I've got the day off today, so I'm going to feed my stamping addiction and try to get some challenges done! What are YOU gonna do??

Kim and Tara Challenge......#3!!

Happy Monday morning all!! I hope you had a fabulous weekend!! I sure did!! Got most of my Christmas shopping finished, spent time with friends and family AND I got to do some stamping!!

Today's card is for my monthly (or whenever we can fit it in) challenge with my pal, Tara from Inking on the Edge!! This month we decided to use one of the newest Magnolia images of Tilda with her Bell!!

On Friday, I got some new stuff from Stampin' Up. It was my last order of the year and I can't believe that I hadn't ordered any of the new designer papers and the new ribbon from the mini catalogue until now!! So I immediately pulled out the Ski Slope papers to play with first!!

I stamped Tilda on Wausau paper using Memento Tuxedo Black ink and coloured her in using my Copic markers. Man, I love those markers!! I cut her out and embossed the image using my Nestabilities. The card base is a 6x6 Chocolate Chip square and I sponged the edges of the dp using Chocolate Chip ink. The sentiment is from Papertrey and I added the new felt stitched ribbon across the center. Then I punched some red glittery snowflakes and layered them with Soft Sky smaller snowflakes and added some Old Olive buttons with brown linen thread. The finishing touch was adding some of the new Martha Stewart Mica Glitter that I picked up at Michael's yesterday.

Be sure to stop over at Tara's place to check out her creation which is fabulous!!! We'll do another one some time in January and I've got an extra element that I want to add to the challenge....even Tara doesn't know about this! You'll have to wait and see what it is!! heehee!!

Well, I have the day off from work today and lots of laundry to do. Hopefully I'll get to stamp a little in between loads. Cheerio!!

Kim and Tara Challenge.....#2!!!

Well, it's time for another Kim and Tara Challenge!! We had so much fun doing it last month, we thought we'd play it again!!! This time Tara chose this Magnolia stamp starring Edwin!!!

What a perfect image for fall!! I pulled out my pad of Boxer dp by Basic Grey and pulled out the coordinating Copic markers. I coloured Edwin in with more of a sketch technique, leaving lots of white areas around the edges. I think it looks good on this particular image.

The card base is a 6x6 Night of Navy square and all the other papers are from the Boxer line of patterned papers. I added some retired SU ribbon, some Prima flowers with heart shaped brads and I pop dotted the sentiment, which is also by Magnolia. I finished him off by adding Waterfall Stickles to his light blue wings.

Be sure to hop over to Tara's blog, her design is amazing!!!

Well, it's back to work for me today. It was nice to have yesterday off from work and I had a great day stampin'! I did eight loads of laundry, completed 4 cards and made a nice barbecued pork chop dinner. Then I got to watch Dancing with the Stars and read for a bit before hitting the hay. Now I'm all refreshed and ready for the library again. I wonder what's in store for me today....hmmmmmm.

The Kim and Tara Challenge ..... #1!!

I hope everyone had a great weekend! The weather was really nice here. I also got to spend a lot of time in my craft room on my day off and I got a LOT accomplished! Yay!!

Do you know what I love most about stamping and blogging and such?? It's the really cool people I've met and the friends that I've made through this craft!! One of those people is Tara from Inking on the Edge!! She is one of my 'invisible friends' as my family likes to call them!! haha!! We've never met but we chat through email quite a bit, we like a lot of the same things, especially stamping related and I just know, that if we ever met in real life and got to hang out, we'd get along famously!! She likes to talk as much as me though, so you'd probably never tear us apart!! haha!!

Anyway, we both got our new Magnolia Fall Stamp Club Kit last week, so we decided to challenge each other to use one of the stamps in it. One of the probelms I am having right now is finding time to use stamps that I don't HAVE to use for Design Team work or special requests or what have you. This time I got to make a card just because I wanted to!! So fun!!

The stamp we chose to use is Tilda gathering mushrooms. I think she has mushrooms and some flowers in her apron there, at least that's how I coloured them. I pulled out my 6x6 Sugared paper pad by Basic Grey because I thought it had some nice autumn colours in it and got busy!!

I stamped Tilda on Wausau bright white cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black ink and coloured her in using coordinating Copic markers. I also stamped some of the larger mushrooms from an older release, coloured them and cut them out. I used Purely Pomegranate for the 6x6 base and layered several of the dps and used So Saffron for matting. I added some different Prima flowers with yellow brads, tied some stitched grosgrain ribbon in River Rock across the middle and added the Magnolia sentiment using my large oval punch. I finished her off by adding some highlights with white acrylic paint!!

Ain't she cute?? I really love the way she turned out and the colours are so rich. A perfect fall card!! Thanks so much for the challenge Tara!!!! Let's do it again next month!! Mwah!!!
